چکیده
The paper is devoted to the homotopy classification of C*-algebras of continuous functions on a finite CW-complex with values in a UHF-algebra. The relevant invariants are based on (connective) K-theory.

When are two commutative C*-algebras stably homotopy equivalent?
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the homotopy theory of C*algebras of the formC0(X)⊗K, whereX is a finite connected CWcomplex with base point; hereC0(X) is theC*-algebra of continuous complex-valued functions which vanish at the base point, K is the C*-algebra of compact operators on a separable infinite dimensional complex Hilbert space, and a homotopy between two C*-algebra maps is...
متن کاملNonseparable Uhf Algebras I: Dixmier’s Problem
There are three natural ways to define UHF (uniformly hyperfinite) C*-algebras, and all three definitions are equivalent for separable algebras. In 1967 Dixmier asked whether the three definitions remain equivalent for not necessarily separable algebras. We give a complete answer to this question. More precisely, we show that in small cardinality two definitions remain equivalent, and give coun...
متن کاملInnerness of ρ-derivations on Hyperfinite Von Neumann Algebras
Suppose that M,N are von Neumann algebras acting on a Hilbert space and M is hyperfinite. Let ρ : M → N be an ultraweakly continuous ∗-homomorphism and let δ : M → N be a ∗-ρ-derivation such that δ(I) commutes with ρ(I). We prove that there is an element U in N with ‖U‖ ≤ ‖δ‖ such that δ(A) = Uρ(A)− ρ(A)U for all A ∈ M. c © Electronic Journal of Theoretical Physics. All rights reserved.

We give two general constructions for the passage from unstable to stable homotopy that apply to the known example of topological spaces, but also to new situations, such as the A-homotopy theory of Morel and Voevodsky (preprint, 1998) and Voevodsky (Proceedings of the International Congress of Mathematicians, Vol. I, Berlin, Doc. Math. Extra Vol. I, 1998, pp. 579–604 (electronic)). One is base...
متن کاملIrreducible Hyperfinite Ii1 Subfactors: Powers’ Algebras
We construct a series of inclusions of hyperfinite subfactors Pi in the centralizer R of Powers’ IIIt factor, Pi+1 ⊂ Pi ⊂ R. It is proven that: ∀i ∈ N, P ′ i ∩R = C, [Pi : Pi+1] ≥ λ = (1 + t) t Via an outer action of Z2 on R, we also construct an inclusion of hyperfinite II1 factors, M3 ⊂ M1 with the index equal to λ, such that the relative commutant M1 ∩M ′ 3 is four dimensional.
